In Montreal we had a great record store where you hang out... DJ (OK spacey clerk :o) spinning the LPs requests etc.. They knew everything beyond the top 40... :o) Phantasmagoria...

Oh looks like it's still around..

Phantasmagoria Alternative, classical and jazz specialist, has some hidden treasures. 5018 Sherbrooke W., 488-2004 and Sherbrooke E., 355-1474

The setting back then :o)

Virgin's catalogue being so freely available (Simple Minds' Life in a Day is disponible? No way!) allowed me to pick up a copy of Snakes and Lovers at my fave Montréal record store, Phantasmagoria. It was the only record store that had a sunken lounge with goldfish tanks along two sides. You could go in, read a copy of Rolling Stone, and occasionally get stoned on a weekday morning when the store was empty.
