It is also disingenuous to pretend that all countries have equal rights despite their disparities in size, wealth, or military might.

I have an equal right to try to be heavy-weight boxing champion of the world. The fact that I don't have the size, skill, strength, and speed to have a chance, doesn't mean my rights are less. That specific right may indeed be of little or no value to me, but its still real.

It is like matching a 100 pound guy with a 300 pound guy in a fight and pretending that they are equal.

Not at all. Equal rights does not imply equal outcomes.

Moving away from combat, both the New York Times, and a congenitally retarded alcoholic, have the right to freedom of speech and a free press. But that doesn't mean they have the same influence, or that an actual printing press has to be handed to the alcoholic.
