Most of the stuff out there is not AI but really Expert Systems. Crunchers and Grinders with a fairly good interface that often mimics some guy from Mumbai who just spent three hours on a sardine train getting to his office and who then knows exactly what your problem is no matter how much you dispute it. We won't get AI until the computers start to program. AKA HAL. Its really very hard to get a program to act at all randomly. Have to play around with fuzzy logic. Good Expert Systems will be called AI and will do a lot of stuff in the next decade. But they are not what most people think of as AI....r2d2
