If you follow the research over the last tens years you will see that the comment was rather predictive. All the comment is saying is that in 1998, they had a much better handle on the CO2 issue than they did on many of the other issues.

But 9 years latter, more data is in and more issues have been resolved. Despite all the hopes of anti-global warmers, the issues are not being resolved in their direction. Not surprise there.
