Yeah, this thread will probably slowly die. There have been several major H5N1 related breakthroughs in the past 6 months that (IMHO) indicate humanity could quickly and effectively deal with that particular pandemic if it occurs. Tens or hundreds of millions of people dying is no longer a likely event, although it could still happen. As for the government reports of at most a few hundred thousand dying, that was irresponsibility on a grand scale. Anyone who looked at the results of the Spanish Flu and how it spread, and then looked at today's global society, immediately knew the government "experts" were full of #$it when they were saying that.

Looks like the media is trying to stir up interest in the drug resistant TB now.

edit: Hey, I just read your post out of curiosity about MRSA. My mom had that a year ago! Picked it up volunteering at a local hospital. She nearly had to have a finger amputated. It started as a white pimple, which she broke open. Within a few days her finger was turning black. They were just barely able to get it under control, and the bacteria destroyed a lot of muscle tissue in the finger.
