"More importantly the corporations can shoot or imprison you the way the government can. "

They can just take all the jobs to other countries and financially impoverish you.

"Free trade weakens the power of the corporations."

I disagree. They are the ones pushing for free trade. There may be exceptions, but big corporations in general love the idea of paying someone in China to do the work for 3 cents and hour that they are now paying someone in US to do for $14 an hour. Free trade is essentially an attack on the working class of all countries that pay more than rock bottom wages. I was in Redmond the other day and I was thinking there is a lot of wealth here now, but I wonder how long it will take them to figure out how to offshore all of those high paying software jobs.

They also love the idea of extorting expensive concessions out of governments on the threat that they will move to another country or region if the government does not play ball. That welfare stuff you guys always bitch about until it is going to some big corporation, then you say nothing.

"Anyone can threaten, or actually carry out a lawsuit. It isn't limited to big corporations."

But huge corporations have the money to strangle in court anyone who speaks out in opposition to their activities, so there is even less incentive to act with any social conscience.
