I ordered a Series 3 on Amazon yesterday. Price was $399 after rebate, excluding delivery. This does not include subscription fees. FWIW,direct fulfillment by Amazon from stock was not available, whereas it had been a few days ago. I think the price discounting plus rebate is going to sell a fairly significant number of HD units. I have has an original, Sony branded, TIVO for years with life of box subscription and it still works fine, but once you start watching HD programming on a large screen, standard definition tv becomes difficult to watch. Am I typical? Don't know, but I think there is a chance of an "upgrade" cycle to HD for TIVO's installled base.
