Look at it from a genetic pov. Your genes want to survive- and in the genetic competition if you spend your life energy paying to support another person's genes then your genes die. There's no "right" and "wrong" to it, at the genetic level. It's a simple question of survival.

Now you can try to say that leaving "your" children ( even if there is no high likelihood that they are yours) is a conscious decision, and "bad", because we humans tend to simplify things that way- but I suspect that's not a constructive way to look at this. It's better to work with biology than against it.

You have confused "explanation" with exoneration. That happens a lot. I don't understand the confusion, myself. They aren't the same thing to me.
