Bush, and Bush supporters drove up the deficit. They spent us out of house and home. Bush and his warmongering cabinet started a useless and unnecessary war which costs us 10 billion per month, something we certainly could have put to better use. Now, we can't get out of this money sink, because Bush is refusing to withdraw the troops. Bush and the republican congress started up a huge pork laden medicare drug bill that disallowed price controls of any kind. Bush and the republican congress put for another pork laden energy bill and other bills that contained such gems as the bridge to nowhere and various Alaska subsidies for the kitchen sink.

The outcome is that the USA went from a large surplus to the largest deficit ever. This was the republicans doing. Maybe the dems can dig us out, I don't know. I don't think there is much appetite for republican policies on much of anything anymore.

Did you notice Fred Thompson entered the race? He won't win, because Bush has demoralized republicans so badly there isn't any republican who can win. I think the fiscal conservatives like me are the most pissed off.
