Jimmie Rodgers, yes ... can't forget country 'n western - the various Hanks, Williams Snow and Thompson, Patsy Cline, Kitty Wells, Chet Atkins, Sons of the Pioneers [one of my daughter's favourite videos, Melodytime, ends with a long piece of theirs] ... even Elvis, who opened the way for Waylon 'n Willie, to those who say this is pop i say who cares ... The Band, with Dylan always around with or without them ... 'I Shall Be Released', yeah

On bird-watching - ogi, yesterday we had a bird watching us, northern hawk owl near as i can figure, sitting on a tall post about eight feet away from and level with the kitchen window, perfect place to watch anything moving along one whole side of the pond ... so he was facing away mostly, after the first few minutes while we were fumbling for a camera, and to get him to turn around for a picture we were tapping on the window harder and harder, finally opened it and talked to him, all he would do was give us a quick glare as if to say stop that arsehole, after at least twenty minutes dove on something at the edge of the pond and flew off, don't know what it was or if he/she got it
Speaking of flying off -
On politics - yes there are 'liberals' and there are 'conservatives' [in the US anyway, must be because they get talked about a lot], whatever those labels mean to whatever group or individual using them ... however there may be a more significant split in our species - between those compelled to sneer at the politics or music or moral values or hairstyles or whatever of their fellows, and on the other hand those who refrain from such sneering, or at least have the good taste to do so only in private |
