On the way to watering some cattle in the National Forest the other day, my neighbor and I came across a young woman leading a lame horse and tugging on a slowpoke mule. Turned out she was riding the Continental Divide Trail from Mexico to Canada.

This was a barely-21 yo girl, by herself, in some of the roughest and loneliest territory in the US. She impressed me greatly with her courage and determination. She's a Forestry major at the U of Montana.
