We had to ax going to Mount Rushmore due to time constraints.

I'll be hitting Rushmore and Crazy Horse right around July 8-10, then a night in the Badlands.

The northern part of the Lower Peninsula is fantastic. The shorelines, Manistee Nat'l Forest & Sleeping Bear Dunes are simply incredible. And the Upper Peninsula is fantastic as well though it is fairly remote (fine with me). And the Pictured Rocks Nat'l Lakeshore is incredible (see the pics below).

My mother, brothers and sisters and their families have for years taken a regular camping trip to a Nat. Forest Campbground in Hiawatha NF, just West of St. Ignace. Miles of sandy beaches and very beautiful I hear. Unfortunately, living in the West, I've never been.
