I share your frustration. My grandparents worked for AT&T when it was almost a start up and retired from there many years later. We always had a loyalty to them because of that but my father finally said enough and switched last year and I had bailed on them a couple years before that but came back when they had the only DSL available in this area I moved to.

I just had to move a few blocks so I moved my DSL as well. They completely dumped my old package information so special settings I had to enable access to my server went away and it took a week to get that straightened out. (None of the American help could figure out even when I told them flat out what the problem was and how to fix it. They ignored my advice and tried it their way which didn't work. Only after I got hooked up to a guy in India was he able to fix it. So much for American know-how. I prefer Hodgie every time I have a problem as they do a much better job than the flunkie in Texas or New Jersey I get in the States)

Now, my speed just dropped down to 40k instead of 300 meg. I called yesterday to get it fixed and they want to check my lines in my building. I said no you have the switch wrong on your router and need to turn it from the suzy homemaker setting of 56k to to commercial high band but they want to check my lines first.

Finally I was fed up and said to heck with it and I would just call Adelphia and get a cable modem. The DSL guy could have cared less. I guess he'll care when they lay him off due to all the customers leaving.

Everyone I know where I live is abandoning telephone DSL and switching to cable due to poor service. the chart on T is in a bull trend but if their service is like this everywhere, it may be a good short soon.

Good Luck,

Lee
