But, Michael, it's just so difficult to believe that CPQ would not make profits for any length of time. IMHO the japanese will not be able to completly undercut the US PC makers. Look, historically, they've completly undercut TV makers, but already couldn't do it with cars, did quite poorly with light trucks and laser printers, etc. Seems, the US public no longer feels that Japanese is always superior, you see that the J. have difficulty selling to the government (who perhaps buy 10% of PCs), businesses seem to be well grabed by US PC makers, so all we are talking about is the anticipated share of possible consumer market. This would hit GATE much harder than CPQ. I would not argue for GATE. I'm not so sure about DELL, but my question is, why CPQ ? Or, just spread the risk?
