IMAGE 1- Aeromagnetic anomaly map for northern Alberta and northeastern British Columbia showing the locations of line segments recorded during the PRAISE 94 program. Red and orange colors are aeromagnetic highs and cool colors are aeromagnetic lows. The prominent northeast-trending discontinuity in the upper left is the Hay River Fault zone, a ca. 1.7-1.8 Ga. dextral strike-strip fault. The curvilinear domains crossed by the seismic lines are magmatic arcs and slivers accreted to western Canada between 1.9 and 2.0 Ga.

IMAGE 2- Schematic cross section across the Peace Rive Arch, showing the postulated accretionary history that began with subduction of oceanic crust (green) beneath Archean crustal blocks (pink) at ca. 2.4 Ga. Subsequent panels show progressive closure and amalgamation of crustal blocks until final assembly 1.9 Ga.
