Hi NP Jupe,

When we arrived at Woodfield yesterday around 4:30 the restaurant was full with no line but about a 6 table wait at the fish tanks. A line started developing around five and was still there when we left after 7PM. Several employee's commmented it very full all day long and the busiest its been since the kiddies went back to school. Talked to two managers, retail and resraurant, that reiterated that Woodfield met all its performance goals this quarter and the managers have already gotten their bonuses to prove it. Again, July and August very busy with a big drop off in September. Same as in 1996 and thus no surprise. Retail thought they had a great quarter. (News bulletin! News Bulletin! Dog Bites Man!! I repeat Dog Bites Man!) I got the idea revs would come in off between 5-10% from 3Q '96. Food great! Service excellent! and the Ambience still tickles me after too many visits to even count. I like the new retail products. Some great kids shirts and sweatshirts with individual characters. Picked up a Cha Cha sweatshirt for Sabby. They are selling a couple logo tshirts with Chicago on them and they are selling very well. Manager said they've been begging for more such items including the polo shirts but they've been told that creates a distribution problem tracking which shirts go where.(Personally I think they need to meet a certain item per shirt volume benchmark before labeling an item with a city becomes cost effective. With 3 units in Chicago I'll bet we'll be getting more retail items with the Chicago label very soon. Almost all the clothing items seemed to be Rainforest Cafe TM which is great. But Bean Babies are still the hot seller. In the restaurant the kid's beverages were served in a keepable plastic Rainforest Cafe cups with plastic top and straw as well. Great idea! Anyone know how long they've been doing that? Finally, they still need individual character stuffed animals. All employee's showed the usual alertness and espirit de corps. Finally, we thought Woodfield's parking lot was rather empty when we arrived for a Saturday. Any of the local malls we go to are far more packed on a Saturday than Woodfield was. Given the amount of traffic at RAIN I think this bodes well for fall and Xmas revenues.

Regards,
Dennis
