That's what I always thought. Then my wife died and I inherited care giving for a dieing father, then an aunt, then an uncle and now, my mother. I've been retired for 5 years and haven't been able to leave my mother for longer than one weekend in all that time. I hope you're more fortunate with your "pick up and leave plans." So far, mine aren't working at all. And, yes, I am just a tad bitter about it.
