Sheesh, GST, is it really possible you have swallowed such BDS kool-aid? If Plame's identity was the least little bit secret, you'd think the CIA wouldn't have allowed her bigmouth and unqualified husband to write op-eds about his CIA trip to Niger in the NYT, when his marriage to Plame was public knowledge, literally in Who's Who.
Reasonable people would inquire why he got the gig. Connections to his wife, who was working a desk job at Langley, hardly great NOC cover, would occur to thousands of minds at once.
Then when columnists began to notice the connection, this being what Washington columnists do, the CIA might have mentioned to said columnists that they shouldn't publish, since it was national security secret. But no.
It wasn't any kind of a secret, until it was published. Then retroactive outrage and posturing galore! Then recommendations to investigate!
The whole thing was a covert move by the CIA against the Bush administration, with the assistance of the State Department (remember the actual leaker? where did he work?). Worked like a charm too.
If only they were half as motivated to go after the enemies of the USA. Or half as competent. |
