As I said many months ago that large scale corporate war was about to break out. BRCM's point is an attempt to get a royalty free license. Which will never happen as was said yesterday on the Q's press conference as I listened.
The same can be said for NOK, they are trying to renew a license at a lower royalty rate. NOK involved several other companies to pressure to do corporate combat.

The whole thing is that QCOM's approach to CDMA was to license almost any interested companies which in essence increased Nokia's competitors. NOK underestimated the CDMA mkt including WCDMA. In addition, with QCOM's acquiring Flarion, they also have control of 4G. It has been interesting to watch this play out as an excellent example as to just how dirty big business plays. I doubt that the Pres will act on the request. All of this is shadowing the negotiations that are ongoing between all parties. The Q announced yesterday that the current qtrs business is very strong and exceeded their projections. Anyway you are the lawyer and I am not,and you are obviously following the case. I still believe all of this has effected the addition of fram to cellphones. Anyway I certainly hope all of this settles in my lifetime as I am running out of time. My "retirement years", have been altered with two other projects, my portfolio is higher now than ever so I can't complain.
