"Sometimes I wonder if the country even deserves a democracy." I think our days as a democracy are numbered. We don't have a free, open and critical media. And a democracy cannot survive without that. The media goes all giddy over a $400 haircut, but it cannot and will not point out bald-faced lies by politicians. I doesn't even pick up on when Monica testified about "caging" voters in the DOJ hearings. Or the hirings based on political affiliations. Or the filing of voter fraud lawsuits right before an election, despite DOJ guidelines forbidding it. Or any of the other mechanisms that the DOJ has put into place to manipulate the election process. Now we have been lurching down this road for a long while. But we now have a group in power who has no qualms about doing away with "quaint" mechanisms and are dismantling the last few things standing in the way of a power grab. And the very thing that can stand in the way of it, the media, is busy chasing Paris Hilton and Lindsey Lohan. And we have no one to blame but ourselves.
