VMS deposits can be big, Pueblo Viejo is huge, Barrick's page on it here says 10.9m ozs 'for canadian reporting purposes', but there is much more, plus big Zn/Cu/Ag credits - barrick.com

Goldquest has properties right around PV, and Las Animas is sort of in line in the same highlands [they have a lot of property in the DR, been there for a while] - goldquestcorp.com

So this is what is fueling part of the speculation, imho ... Gold Fields has taken over as operator on most of their properties, which freed them up to work on others like Las Animas

All deposits are limited of course, some just less so than others -g- ... nickel orebodies around Timmins have tended to be smallish, i think they can occur in groups though [? - EC will correct me if wrong] ... either one has a good chance, hard to say how useful it is to compare just the two plays, but gqc is trading at a far smaller market cap and has at least equal chances, probably greater imho
