Verizon triple play($99/mo, 2 yrs) using FIOS network is done with three different wavelengths of laser diodes. The triple play is for TV, broadband and mobile telephony(cellphone). This, of course, changes the multiplexer arrangements, and all the cable headend equipment will also move in this direction. ARRS had NT multiplexer experience by license, and was ask to do multiplexer research to supplement QAM transmission. We will see tremendous speed improvement later in this decade to support all the bandwidth we will demand for information data transfer.
