Quite interesting, thanks! Not that we'll know for sure -
derivative books are dark matter -g- I agree with you, the
weird stuff is likely related to derivatives blowing up - not
a good time to take too many chances, since who knows which
way these positions are levered up. We might see continued
equity market weakness next week, regardless of expiration.
Then we'll have to see if FCBs unload again! If they do,
the dollar crisis is only a matter of time, I think.
As for gold, many bears have been beaten in gold in recent
weeks. I remain LT bullish nevertherless. If all the mess
starts to unwind in uncontrollable fashion, it's only a matter
of time before gold takes off and never looks back. So far
liquidity issues seem to affect gold negatively as well.
I guess some hot money needs to be washed out. If stuff starts
hitting the fan, we'll see a lot of volativity.
