CBS Evening News...FBI and Fingerprint Technology...A segment of the news was devoted to Crime in America Series and the recent decrease in certain types of crime. FBI attributes part of this to its sophisticated (and growing) use of fingerprint technology. Talked abt. the "world's most sophisticated fingerprint center" located in W VA FBI says its aim is to "wire the world" by creating a "universal transference system." Talked about creating softare that would allow a fingerprint to be captured in any part of the world and be sent to any other part in minutes. Reminded me of the conference call when Randy discussed the purchase of a software creator as "necessary" because of the "shifting paradigm" in the business. No specific company was mentioned, but given what we know... By the way, they also reported that some militia group had plotted to blow up the fingerprint center awhile back. Got caught, naturally.
