Why you have to pay so much GST? I thought you had a salaried job?

Guess I was wrong. I've been making quarterlies for quite a while now. With Internet banking, "it's so easy now". Which reminds me. I have to make one on Friday.

Where I used to work, they were encouraging "private enterprise" (a.k.a. down sizing), and a whole lot of companies sprung up to do the contract work. Worked for one of the bigger ones, but they were only interested in establishing sleazy SRTC claims (you're probably too young to remember the Tax scandal associated with Scientific Research Tax Credits).

I was more interested in "doing science" and ended up with one of the steadier contracts, so missed the ebb and flood of funding. After a few years, my little company was Last Man Standing. So, when a bunch of money came in I ended up with 20 "subcontractors". Made a LOT of money for a couple of years.

Made enough to pay off my house. Funny how life works out. I never intended to be a big contractor. I was just there, day in and day out. They came to me.
