From what I hear, one of the reasons the democrats didn't push harder on the supplemental war appropriations issue was that Lieberman had threatened that if they pushed too hard he would switch parties.

Then the Dems would lose power to set the agenda in the Senate, and would also lose their ability to see many of the investigations now taking place through to the end.

The dems need to get a big enough majority that Lieberman is irrelevant. That turncoat schmuck.
