Well, if you think inclusion into the Microsoft IE is the only
thing Wavephore is doing, you'd be right. First off, WAVO can code
and decode off of broadcast as well as CABLE facilities. IF a cable
or broadcast company wants to increase revenue by providing a
distribution channel for data, all they need is an encoder at their
facility and a decoder at every PC. Why is this cheaper than other
means? They don't have to file with the FCC for frequency spectrum
because WAVO uses the current spectrum. They don't have to build
new towers and broadcast or cable facilities.The Microsoft channel
is still using the telephone line as the distribution vehicle, that
will allow WAVO to advertise their Wavetop system very cheaply.
Wavetop is the first medium to deliver data to consumer's desktops
without using phone lines. You think that won't generate interest?
We'll soon find out.INDV's search technology sounds very impressive
and I'm sure they will do well with it. However WAVO's acquisition
of Paracel- a very powerful search algorithm- is helping the Newscast
division grow by leaps and bounds. WAVO's Networks division makes
and sells the Coder-Decoder boxes for broadcasting, cable, FM subcarrier and satellite transmission. See, WAVO is in the content,
distribution, and equipment business. INDV may be a good buy but
I think WAVO is better.
