" people who do not recognize the higher purpose of human principle always spend their lives seeking as much pleasure, property, power, and influence in the world as possible for the benefits those things offer in and of themselves. "

i'm not sure what you mean by "higher purpose of the human principle"

But imagining a higher purpose is very pleasurable to some people. It's just another form of pleasure seeking, I think. Many people pursue higher purposes all over the world, often mutually exclusive ones when you compare sect to sect, and I don't think the correctness matters, and they could all be incorrect, but the people following the higher purpose will still get their temporal pleasure from the higher purpose regardless of its correctness. The higher purpose is as much a pleasure to some people as property or power, and it is a pleasure in and of itself, in this world, in this moment, imo.
