CMGI venture capital investment is considered to be equity investment and reported in their cash and equivalent account? These equity is quite liquid; because of partnership with other venture capitalists, commonly to share risk. Initial equity investments may be sold to other venture capitalists with profitability in mind. Some of the famous deals years ago, like American research and Development(now Textron) invested $90,000 in Digital Equipment, now HP, appreciated to $685 million; and had to distribute to their stockholders to avoid income tax liability.
