It seems unlikely that the Dems will nominate a lightweight like Dukakis who allowed the Reagan era to continue without Reagan; so the odds are good that Dems can take advantage of popular fatigue with the Bush-Cheney-Rove style of conservative Republican rule. The Reps still look to me like Dems going into 1984; on the way down and fairly clueless why chanting the party line won't work next time.
