While change is coming, it is not in the interests of content owners to see broadband video arbitrarily cannibalize existing revenue streams. And it is the content owners that control access to the must-have video that will drive BVPs’ business models. Models based solely upon user-generated or prosumer content, while capable of becoming self-sustaining, will not account for the majority of advertising expenditures at any point in the foreseeable future.
