What do you think happens when we use the military even in limited roles, like in New Orleans? There is a curfew.

The military has been used in a number of domestic situations without imposing a curfew. If there was one in NO, then it likely would have been there even without active duty regular military involvement.

The military in NO was not particularly aggressive from what I've read. Abuse, draconian control, or strong applications of violence, to the extent they occurred at all, where more likely to come from sources outside the military.

Now I admit that "what I've read" is anecdote, not something that's necessarily a reliable cross section of all of the military's involvement, but any extreme harshness from the military would probably receive a disproportionate level of coverage. Also I haven't even seen any anecdotal arguments of the contrary opinion.
