If I assert that a pullout is a mistake, and that a large permanent presence is not needed, then what's left? Obviously a large temporary presence (well it leaves the question of whether a small permanent presence would remain).

If you want a highly specific answer - Well I'd respond in the same way you did, there are too many moving parts.
