First, what makes you think the gov't knew about this for ten years, but waited until Jan of this year anyway? It appears that the investigation beginning January was triggered by an informant's tip and that the gov't had no probable cause prior to that to investigate the company. (note: having "mexican-looking" people working there is not probable cause)

Second, since this is apparently a slam dunk case of criminal hiring practices ("An employee of the staffing company gave him a counterfeit Social Security card and later gave him counterfeit Social Security and Resident Alien cards for others, the affidavit said."), with the staffing company counterfeiting SS and green cards to hide their deliberate hiring of illegals, how can you NOT blame the employment agency, but blame the gov't instead? Seems to me to gov't did what it was supposed to do as soon as it had reason to suspect something.

Now that said, I'll agree that some system for verifying that all these hires they were making were legal is needed. Lucky for other firms like them, though, the bill that would implement such a mandatory system of immediate verification is held up in legislative limbo, thanks in equal parts to anti-immigrant blowhards and Democrat partisan gamesmanship. Perhaps it can still be saved and more of these criminal employers can be caught and punished.
