The issue of whether a fetus is a human with rights or is not can basically be answered three ways.

1 - It is.

2 - It is not.

3 - The question is subjective or meaningless.

If answer one is assumed then libertarian principles fit perfectly with protecting the unborn.

If answer 2 is assumed then there is no libertarian justification for outlawing abortion (and as far as I can tell no good justification arising from wide spread non-libertarian principles either).

The idea that the government is "deciding" the issue assumes answer three. If 1 or two is correct the government would either be recognizing the correct idea or failing to recognize it.

Libertarianism doesn't equal or require belief that all moral issues are subjective.

Is the government deciding the issue in an anti-libertarian way when it says its illegal to kill either you or me?
