Lots of cross currents. Housing bust might cost half a trillion at most with the loss mostly in holders of the debt. A minor hit for consumers if economy is strong. If Paulson and Co make the numbers work who are we to argue? Maybe CROX shoes, Iphones, solar panels, Cisco and 4M new Chinese consumers a month save the day..
