In hindsight, most Francophone politicians regret the way the so-called "linguistic border" was bargained with the Flemings in the 1970s: Brussels was straitjacketed to its core 19 communes (districts) and all of Brussels' predominantly Francophone suburbs were relinquished to Vlaams Brabant.... Hence the current idea among Francophone politicians to demand a corridor, a tract of land connecting Brussels to the Brabant Wallon in exchange for Flanders'secession.

By its spelling, I take it that Vlaams Brabant is Flemish. So you're saying that if there was secession, Brussel's francophone suburbs would go to Flanders, is that correct? What a mess. How many km. is the Brabant Wallon from Brussels?

Again, how serious is this talk of Flemish secession?
