Great analysis, wish I could learn to be so brief Re: timing/ultimate triggers in the US markets, your guess is as good as mine -- sooner or later there will be a discounting of Democratic vs Republican control and the expected tax changes (not meant to be a political comment, just a reasonable expectation). Chinese Olympic-related slowdown? Early boomers cashing out? All of the above? Beats me how high things will get in the meantime, but the bigger the up-wave, the bigger the down-wave Re: carry trade reversal, the flipside of USD cratering is the pricing of everybody else's currency and therefore their goods out of orbit + crushing US domestic interest rates = global trade goes into the crapper = worldwide recession/depression = no asset class goes unscathed Not pretty, and nowhere to hide either. Even the completely uninvolved will be touched
