Yes, that is very true. But - Does Paul really have such an understanding? I think that him subscribing to the "blowback" theory of Islamist terrorism might be an argument to the contrary. I wish he would be more explicit. I am willing to listen.

After reading your post I googled "ron paul" and "islam". There are 100's of K's of entries. Noted this one, with Michelle Malkin. She sounds pissed off at ol' Paul. Click on the video.
