Looks like Hymotion will be the first to market with a relatively mass market plug-in hybrid solution. It is basically an add-on battery pack and a little circuitry, no changes at all to the factory auto configuration. Their batteries, lithium-phosphate from A123systems, also the chosen lithium battery provider for GM. Will provide cheap electric propulsion for 40 mile or less driving days, and when you need to go further the hydrocarbon power takes over coupled with the usual hybrid electric assist. hymotion.com
