The battle is now mostly between the 'Northerner' Rudy, and the 'Southerner' Fred (the only times the GOP has nominated non-sunbelt candidates in recent years --- Dole and Ford --- they both lost....)

While the candidate of much of the party establishment, (the extremely well-funded and leading-in-some-of-the-early primary states Mitt Romney) is aiming for his money and (supposed) early primary success to enable him to knock-off either of the two front runners as soon as they trip or falter, thus putting him into a two-man race.

With an 'all outsider' field like Rudy, Fred, Mitt... what does McCain have for a calling card? Just one more 'outsider'... and a fading over seventy year old one at that... mired down in his support for an Iraq disaster.
