I remember leaving the house after chores were done in the morning, going down to the bayou to fish or just horse around. We made up games to play, we got filthy dirty and loved it! When we heard the whistle, we hot footed it home for lunch if we didn't take a sack with us. During the weekends and in the summer after school was out, we'd stay out from morning to night. Only a few families had telephones and those were party lines. You can be sure that if we were up to no good, it got home long before we ever did!

No one went missing, no one was assulted, there were no perverts lurking in the woods. It was a wonderful time. One that my kids know nothing about because of the world we live in today.
