Microsoft's ipTV Mediaroom, is capable of sustaining the picture until the new frame comes along. which will avoid blue screen and it does have slow motion and intermittent sound if the frames are not presented in its normal speed of 30 or 60 frames per second. AT&T and Verizon will be using their technology.
