It's not up to the skeptic to counter a claim. It's up to the person making the claim to back up his hypothesis with evidence. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

The Gartner Group, a reputable research organization, said that the Y2K problem was estimated at $600B. Are you saying that these guys have no supporting evidence? Hmmm... now that would be a scandal!

By the way, I still think aliens will invade and destroy earth on 12/31/99 and we'll never know the answer to this Y2K problem. Please, I beg you, show me some evidence I'm wrong!

Please, Bill, I know you can do better than tossing out hyperboles!
