The $600 Billion estimate was apparently derived by one gentleman (I believe Kevin Schick) who tried to estimate ALL the lines of code in the world, and then he simply multiplied that number by $1 - the amount he believed it would cost to fix a single line of code.

Obviously, the number is completely bogus.

ROFLMAO! Well, Kevin never gave me a call, so I suspect he's short a few lines of code! OK, so you have a sense of humor, but, seriously now, do you think that big building the Gartner Group has in Stamford (a few towns over from me) is full of a bunch of scam artists writing bogus research reports to line their own pockets?
