Obviously Bill was frustrated with the limitations of discussion on the various Y2K company threads, and sought a GENERAL discussion of some of the biggest whoppers invented by self-interested consulting firms and stock promoters.

Perhaps a solution is possible. Create 2 new threads.

1. A GENERAL thread to discuss examples of lies, exaggerations, and faulty premises related to various Y2K-related COMPANIES and their PROSPECTS. This would be investment-oriented.

2. A GENERAL thread which will examine lies related to the Y2K issue. Rather than saying the whole thing is a hoax, it could be an attempt to suggest that it is MOSTLY overblown, or that many premises, such as the $600 billion figure, have been made up to dupe/scare/defraud people. This thread could be entitled "Common Myths, Misconceptions, Lies, and Exaggerations related to the Y2K computer date changeover".

Just my $.02. I doubt that setting parameters for these threads will help too much however, there are too many aggressive hypesters out there with too much gain to let us get a thread in edgewise.
