I agree. Buying local is a powerful thing. It is also hard to do.
But when we buy local a lot more of the money stays in the local community, as opposed to entering the global pipeline to Guangzhou. Solar & wind power and buying local would be a huge move toward energy independence.
One of the easy and interesting ways to buy local is to look for locally-owned eateries. I like getting to know owners, and the employees often have a "we" outlook rather than a 'they' attitude toward the business. There are several here that are not only owned by local folk, most all of their food comes from local agriculture as well.
A lot of communities have locally owned business associations now. Makes the Chamber uncomfortable, but so be it.
