I doubt it.
That's because you're ignorant. You shouldn't doubt it. I've been there and I've heard the ideas expressed. I grew up among fundamentalists and know what I'm talking about.
fundamentalists believe the universe was created 6000 years ago. They believe in a garden of Eden, the Great Flood, parting of the Red Sea, and most significantly special creation of human beings.
Yeah, more or less. Though some hedge about the 6 days being 6 eras, which means those don't think the universe was created exactly 6K ya. But they would also think life on other worlds was created just as life here was. Thus the presence of life on other worlds wouldn't be at all a problem for them.
Since you are not the least bit curious about the possibility of extraterrestial life and are only concerned with the life "specially created" on earth I would expect you to be very conflicted when the discovery is announced. Or am I wrong and you will be excited and happy about it??
For someone who talks of curiousity, you'd think you'd be a little interested in what your fellow humans actually think.
As for life on other planets, given the nature of the universe its going to be very difficult to know very much for a very long time. I know its theologically important for you, so you seem to have a blind faith that some kind of discovery is imminent, but it doesn't look like it to me. The only planet humans might actually visit soon in Mars. Compared to the earth, it looks like a dead planet right now. But who knows. You can keep your hopes up, but if Mars doesn't pan out as having life, its going to be a long time before we get to any other possible life bearing planets - if we ever do.
I would expect you to be very conflicted when the discovery is announced
That is a really silly sentence. Both the blind faith in the inevitable DISCOVERY and the idea anyone else will see it as somehow proving your faith in atheism. People who don't think life came about by pure accident but was intentionally made by God, believe that about all life wherever it might exist, from the bottom of the sea to the other side of the universe. |
