VT Communications Sets Broadcast Industry Precedent with Advanced NetBoss(R) Monitoring Technology from Harris Stratex Networks

May 22, 2007 09:00:00 (ET)

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., May 22, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Harris Stratex Networks, Inc. (HSTX, Trade ), the leading independent supplier of turnkey wireless network solutions, has been awarded a systems and services deal with VT Communications, a U.K.-based global provider of specialized communications services. The deal is a key component of a wide-ranging, integrated systems project designed to enhance VT Communications' ability to distribute global broadcast content.

VT Communications designs, builds, maintains and supports mission-critical communications for many of the world's most demanding organizations, including large broadcasting organizations such as the BBC. Harris Stratex Networks will install NetBoss(R) service assurance solutions, including Manage.IT, Trouble Reporter and Expert Systems Interface, for end-to-end monitoring of VT Communications' Global Media

Network (GMN), a leading-edge MPLS/satellite media delivery network, tracking source-to-destination programming and enabling transmission network operators to supervise delivery of content on-demand for any of its broadcast sources.

The collaboration between VT Communications and the NetBoss business unit of Harris Stratex Network sets a new industry standard for advanced supervision of content distribution and monitoring. By deploying NetBoss, VT Communications can monitor its networks to ensure content is broadcast successfully and consistently and problems are recognized and corrected, guaranteeing uninterrupted service for end users. The first phase of the NetBoss implementation is due to be operational in the spring of 2007.

VT Communications chose Harris Stratex's NetBoss(R) as part of an ongoing project to develop a multi-platform global automated content distribution system. The company is working with Harris Corporation's Broadcast Communications Division to develop the first phase of the system, with Harris NetXpress(TM), providing multi-stream audio transport over IP, and the H-Class D-Series(TM) automation solution as key components of the new content distribution system.

"Our experience with the Harris Broadcast Communications Division has been excellent. Now we're adding NetBoss(R), which offers a superior solution for the sophisticated technologies we deal with on a day-to-day basis. And it's backed up by a high level of expertise. The combined solution stood out in its ability to meet our demanding requirements," said Josh Sparks, head of product and service development, VT Communications. "As we embark on this major project, we're confident NetBoss(R) is the best solution on the market and will add significant value to the services we provide to our customers."

"VT Communications is a broadcast industry leader. We're pleased to work alongside the organization as it develops a range of specialized services for the world's most high-profile broadcasters. NetBoss(R) is well-established within the mobile communications sector, and this relationship is a major step in growing our presence within the broadcast industry," said John Koenig, vice president at Harris Stratex Networks.
