Bigcat - Re: "RAMBUS"

This is an intersting situation. Intel will be/is designing RDRAM interfaces for their new MERCED chip and, I think, for a chip set to support the Wilammette CPU (possibly Katmai).

Assuming Intel can swing the DRAM manufacturers to this technology, down the road RAMBUS will be quite successful.

It's current price (and recent prices) reflect THAT PROMISE - I believe it was as high as $85 at one point - with essentially little or no earnings.

So - it is highly speculative and the payoff may not come for two years or more - by payoff, I mean REAL PROFITS by RAMBUS, and I assume their stock price will reflect these profits.

I personally believe that Intel, Rambus and Samsung may be cooking up something as Intel has invested in a new DRAM facility being built by SAMSUNG in Texas. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if Intel was contracting out their own DRAM design using the RDRAM interface to be made by Samsung in Texas. But, that's my Wild *SS guess.
